Knox County Detectives Received Outstanding Unit of the Year Award

Knox County Sheriff Dave Shaffer released the following:

The Detective Division from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received the Outstanding Unit of the Year award at the recent Ohio Narcotics Association Regional Coordinating Officers (NARCO) Training Conference.

The award was based on a five month investigation earlier this year of a multi-state prescription pill trafficking operation. The investigation resulted in indictments of twelve individuals on over 400 felony charges. The suspects were responsible for obtaining over 100,000 pills, with a street value of over 1.9 million dollars. The ability to coordinate efforts with other agencies including the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Division of Police, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office helped make the investigation successful.
