GILBERT, Ariz. – A total of 48 student-athletes representing 33 different schools were selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-America Team announced on Wednesday. Among the All-America selections was Kenyon College senior Shannon Hart, who was one of just 16 players picked for first-team honors.
Two days prior to the NFHCA’s announcement, Hart was voted a second-team member of the annual All-America squad released by Synapse Sports. She became the third Kenyon player to achieve the national honor and extended the Kenyon program’s streak to five straight seasons with at least one player earning All-America status.
Hart was recently named the NFHCA Division III Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, as well as the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Midfielder of the Year. She finished her collegiate career as both a four-time all-region and all-conference honoree.
During the 2017 season, Hart started every game for Kenyon and tallied 13 points on six goals and an assist. That offensive output helped the Ladies offense average 2.84 goals per game. In the defensive end, she contributed to a unit that yielded an average of just 0.89 goals per game and recorded seven shutouts.
Throughout her Kenyon career, Hart racked up 30 goals, 11 assists and 71 points, the seventh-best mark in program history. She was a key member of the winningest senior class in Ladies history, one that tallied a 66-17 (.795) overall record, won three NCAC regular-season titles, two NCAC tournament titles and made two appearances in NCAA Division III tournament play.
