The Centerburg Lady Trojans High School Basketball team started off fast and finished a home game with a 60-15 win over the Lady Freddies from Fredericktown. Things started quick for Centerburg, just 15 seconds in Savannah Gammell scored to start a 15-0 run to start the game for the Trojans that included 9 points alone for Gammell. The Freddies got scores from Sophie Lester and Leah Turner but trailed 16-4 after one.
In the second quarter Centerburg really extended it’s lead after a free throw by the Freddies the Lady Trojans went on a 20-0 run to end the half with Gammell doing most of the work with 6 points in the quarter and 15 for the first half. Centerburg was up 36-5 at half.
In the third the lead was extended for Centerburg with a Sidney Fields score followed by 4 straight points from Cierra Joiner to make it 42-5 with 515 to go in the quarter. Gammell scored 4 of the next five points for Centerburg to make it 47-5 with 3 minutes to go in the quarter. A 33-0 scoring run by Centerburg ended with an Abby Stevens score for the Freddies with 145 left in the period. The Lady Trojans led 52-10 after 3.
The Lady Freddies were outscored by Centerburg reserves 8-5 in the fourth.
Gammell led all scorers with 20 and Joiner had 13 with Fields putting up 8 for the Lady Trojans.
The Lady Trojans improved to 15-6 overall and 10-3 in the KMAC with the win.
The Lady Freddies fell to 2-15 and 2-10 in the KMAC with the defeat.
